It’s that time of year again, and Schwarzkopf Professional’s Spring/Summer 2014 Essential Looks are blazing a trail across the fashion-conscious world. Inspired by their insider team’s pick of the season’s key catwalk trends, Essential Looks (EL) is loaded with a wealth of inspiration, reflected in three key themes. This season, the EL Artists took a page from the fashion world’s biggest breaking stories and distilled them into a capsule collection of inspiring cut, colour and style directions. Meanwhile, Schwarzkopf Professional product innovations come in a set of sensational new shades, IGORA ROYAL Metallics  – newly introduced, truly stunning, and wearable iridescent colours.

Steve Hogan, creative director for Schwarzkopf Professional Essential Looks, is pretty excited about S/S 2014.

“This season, we’ve simplified the trends to create a crystal-clear, concise focus on each fashion message. We’ve also streamlined our vision to concentrate on three trends with increased variety through the look of more models per look. Finally, we’re delighted to once again include male models across the three trend stories to demonstrate just how versatile every trend is, and to show that we’re hearing it for the guys, too.”

As a truly global company, Schwarzkopf Professional is committed to being there on every seasonal journey from catwalk to consumer. Essential Looks is a passport to effortless inspiration and this season is no exception. Schwarzkopf has named this edition of Essential Looks ‘Style Tec’, in recognition that true creativity is realized through technical excellence.

Spring/summer 2014 pastels ditch the sugar for a hint of spice as a popping candy palette is brought up-to-date via sculpted silhouettes, bold detailing, and sheer fabrics. While the clothes layered the sorbet shades, hair showcased the candy craze with a palette of soft smoky greys, apricots and pale blondes. Cuts placed emphasis on rounded fringes and square outlines in styles of every length.

Florals have long exercised a fascination over designers that shows no signs of waning, and this season’s runways flaunted lustrous fabrics, embossing and exquisite embroidery. Hair followed the bold direction, blending short internal layers in longer outlines and soft fringes with cool metallic shades for a fresh new take on modern glamour.

Delicate, chic and seductive, this trend is a sophisticated compliment to this season’s base of fluid sheers, delicate appliqué, embellishment and embroidered detailing. To add instant intrigue to the hair, colour fusing techniques with red tonal combinations were used, that transition effortlessly from noon-day heat to long, sultry nights.
